World Stroke Day, October 29th
When somebody has a stroke, every second that goes by is crucial. As brain tissue and millions of neurons begin to fade away, time could not be more precious. The World Stroke Organisation (WSO) aims to raise awareness of stroke signs and the benefits of timely access to emergency medical care.

What does this day mean for EVER Pharma?
This day has a lot of meaning for our country organizations and also for our whole company. Structured collaborations focusing on specific stroke education projects with Medical Societies in our markets go back to the year 2006. Since then, EVER has been one of the most engaged companies supporting especially low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) in their efforts to improve stroke care. In recent years these engagements have branched out to other international societies and projects.
EVER Pharma conduct also innovative clnical research in stroke medicine.

EVER Pharma and the WSO – A close relationship for over 15 years
EVER Pharma has been one of the first major supporters of the WSO. Collaborating as early as 2006 when the “ABC-Management of stroke” program was implemented in China and one year later also in Vietnam – a particularly fruitful collaboration which really contributed to improved stroke care nationwide.
The successful conduct of this ambitious project, particularly supported by former Presidents Bo Norrving, Stephen Davis and Michael Brainin also inspired the Philippine Stroke Society to implement a similar project titled “Essential Management of Stroke” which was rolled out even to more remote islands in the Philippines.
The Stroke Action Plan-Europe (SAP-E), Stroke Rehabilitation and ESO-EAST
One of the largest programs ever started to tackle one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases, stroke, has been started one year before the COVID-pandemic – the SAP-E (Stroke Action Plan Europe). It consists of 7 domains and particularly in LMIC the domain 'Rehabilitation' needs special focus as the investment into rehabilitation infrastructure and personnel resources remains far too low to secure the best possible subacute care for patients.
Nowadays EVER Pharma focuses on post-stroke rehabilitation! Over the last couple of years, EVER Pharma has developed a high competence level in the field of post-stroke rehabilitation recognized by the leadership of the SAP-E and also the Steering Committee of the ESO-EAST Project and appointed EVER Pharma to particularly support projects in the field of post-stroke rehabilitation, some of them already running while others are in the pre-implementation phase.
These programs like ACURE (Ukraine), APRECOLA (Azerbaijan) and also countries neighboring the EU like Egypt are supported by small EU-grants which sponsor short scientific missions for rehab experts from all of these countries who come to Austria to learn about Best Practice in Rehabilitation. As a consequence, these missions trigger local implementation projects our organizations are increasingly happy to support.
Especially on October 29th we should celebrate and thank the multitude of employees working also for EVER’s mission.
